I became interested in photography back in 1980 when I received, as a
gift, my first 35mm camera. Over the years I have tried to learn as much
about photography as I can. I have read books, articles, and recently
taken classes to help bring a more artistic angle to my work. Now my interests
include wildlife, floral, landscape, still life, black and white, and
portraits with a special interest in newborn babies.
I currently work with both film and digital cameras. My equipment includes
Canon's 40D, 20D, Rebel Digital, Rebel 2000, S45 Digital, and my old faithful
AV-1. I used to only shoot color film, but after getting my hands wet
in the darkroom, I am using more and more black and white. As for digital,
it has become my media of choice. Having access to both film and digital
has helped me to grow as a photographer and gives me more flexibility.
I am proud to say that several of my photos have been recognized in the
photography community. I have had a total of twenty photographs accepted
into the photo exhibit at the Orange County Fair between 1995 and 2009.
I took home Honorable Mention ribbons in 2002 for my "Flamingo," and in
2003 for my "Baby Makes Three" photos. In 2004 I won a First Place ribbon
in the Professional Division, Children/Families Class, for my photo called,
"Ooops" and an Honorable Mention for my "Lights Of Long
Beach. In 2006 I won a Third Place Ribbon for my image "In Good Hands."
I
was awarded my second Third Place Ribbon in 2007 for my image called "Cradle
of Life." I also regularly participate in Betterphoto.com's monthly
photo contest. There I have placed as a finalist on eighteen separate
occasions, and won two second place awards for my photos "Ooops,"
and "Two Feet In Hands." These prize winning photographs can
be found here and in my
gallery on Betterphoto.com. As you can imagine, these were milestones
for my photography and very exciting times for me.
Now
I embark on another adventure, my very own website. My plan for this site
is for it to be an avenue to share my passion for photography with others.
All titled photos are available for purchase. If you see something you
just have to have for yourself please contact me. Also, I am available
to help you with any of your photography needs and would be happy to discuss
any ideas you may have.
All this would not be happening if it wasn’t for the love and support
of my family and friends. I thank you all for your encouragement, and
putting up with my picture taking over the years. I do have to say a special
thank you to Mom and Dad, Kim, "Rick” and Jeremy (Webmaster) for
everything they have done for me.
In closing, I want to dedicate this website to the memory of my Uncle
Melvin “Web” Wilbert, whose gift of a camera started it all. I hope you
enjoy my website and will pass it along to your family and friends.
